The longer you spend with your partner, the more important it becomes to remember to have time together as a couple. Full-time work, children to look after and a house to run means we get little, if any, time to ourselves. Do something adventurous
Ok, so dinner at a fancy restaurant or a movie may be the go-to option when you have a rare night off from the kids. Whilst these can still be fun, it is important to remember that they are stagnant activities, and not always as romantic as you think they are going to be! Shun the romance for a day and embark on a date made for thrillseekers. Rock climbing, mountain bike riding, deep-sea diving - all of these activities are sure to get your heart racing. There are also other benefits to these activities besides them being memorable and good for your health. Research shows that doing something which scares you can mimic the feeling of having a crush on someone. You never know, after your date you may be up for an activity of a different kind...
Try a dance class
Taking weekly dance lessons can be a great way to do something fun together as a couple. You will need to be close to each other which can help to spark some intimacy. Certain routines such as rumba and tango need their fair share of passion - after all, we've all seen those sexy routines on Dancing With The Stars! Other kinds of dance, such as the quickstep and jive are much faster, meaning they will help release endorphins in the body. Known as the 'feel good' chemical, endorphins lift your mood - perfect if you've both had a stressful day. If nothing else, you will at least have a laugh together, which will definitely get you feeling closer again.
If you and your partner met years ago, do something which mimics some of your very first dates. Try getting ready separately and meeting at your chosen venue at a set time, as if you were meeting for the first time. Set up a camp in your living room, build a pillow fort and watch an old movie from your teenage years. Buy the same perfume you used to wear when you first met and go out on a date to one of your old haunts - a restaurant or a bar, perhaps. Smells can be incredibly powerful in evoking memories, and the nostalgia with transport you right back to years gone by.
